Last Minute St. Patrick's Day Gift Ideas

With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner we were feeling rather festive and created these fun green-themed gift ideas!

Whether it be for your loved one, neighbour, teacher, or colleague, everyone enjoys appreciation and what better way to show it than with soap!  These St. Patty's day soaps were created by melting Voyageur's clear melt and pour soap base and adding a variety of colourants such as Chromium Oxide green and our new Secret Garden mica, mixing them into the soap then pouring layers into the Celtic Clover Milky Way soap mold.  Keep your Soap Detailing Tool handy, some of those intricate details are difficult to fill without some overpour!  We added our Fresh Linen fragrance oil for a crisp scent reminiscent of Spring.

We all know bath bombs like the back of our hands but have you ever heard of shower steamers?  Shower steamers (also called Shower Bombs) are gaining popularity in the bath market due to their appeal for those who want an indulgent sensory experience but aren't partial to taking baths.  Very similar in composition to bath bombs, shower steamers sit out of the water and utilize heat and humidity to release essential oils and create an aroma-therapeutic environment.  Since they are not touching the skin you can use a very high percentage of fragrance or essential oil and they last for 1-2 showers.  Here are the ingredients for 5-6 shower steamers:

Witch Hazel for spritzing

Colourant if desired

Mix the Sodium Bicarb and Citric Acid in a bowl.  Mist the mixture while alternately mixing with your hands until it keeps its shape when you squeeze it.  Add your colourant, drops at a time, mixing well until the desired colour is achieved.  Mist with witch hazel if needed.  Add your essential oils until desired level is reached.  Once all ingredients are thoroughly combined pack the mix into a mold as firmly as possible and let sit for 30 minutes to an hour.  When the shower steamers are dry enough to be de-molded gently flip the mold over and let them cure for another couple of hours.  In the photo above we used the following mixture of essential oils: 20 drops Eucalyptus, 20 drops Peppermint, and 20 drops of Lime for a sinus-clearing shower that invigorates the senses (it might be needed after an enthusiastic St. Patrick's Day evening!).  Try a blend of Bergamot, Lavender, and Chamomile for a soothing bed-time shower or Lemon, Orange, and Spearmint for an energizing morning shower!  For more inspiring shower and bath recipes click here.
